+++ VIGIL - TUESDAY 11TH DECEMBER +++

Sademo, you are a beautiful person to do this. I mean really. To do this week after week, takes dedication. Alleymom and Brenda and the others who have supported this thread amaze me. It is not easy to do this. I just wanted to say thank you. Not from the viewpoint of a person who is sick and is on the receiving end of the energy or the prayers.
But from the viewpoint of the person who, unfortunately, needs a reminder, needs a perspective adjustment every week. And wow, just thank you for doing this.

Fear of conflict, confrontation, disagreement- A leftover from our JW past?
by nvrgnbk inthere's alot being said on here now about the need for everyone to get along.. i used to think that was a goal worth striving for.. but is it realistic?.
is it even desirable?.
i still find myself telling people what they want to hear, on here and in my personal life, in business too.. it's a bad habit.. it generally produces nothing positive in the long run.. but we all want to please others.. that comes from being jw's, but it's by no means unique to our our jw past.. another thing, definitely jw-related, is that we were taught that unity should be preserved at all costs.. comments are even made on here that our "community" is "falling apart".. all we share in common is that we were or are jw's (with a few exceptions).. and our reasons for no longer being associated are many and varied.. some left on their own.. some "drifted away".. some were kicked out.. some studied but dodged the bullet and were never baptized.. some are now atheists.. some are now "spirit-filled" christians.. some don't care about religion or politics.. some care alot.. to expect unity and "we all love each other" from such a diverse group can only lead to disappointment, imo.. i want to thank hillary-step, and few others, for pointing something like this out to me a long time ago.. many of us have made good friendships here, but it's fair to say that we're not all going to be friends.. .

I don't think it's reasonable to expect it because this board (as are many others) is made up of many different kinds of people who are on varying stages out of the watchtower or dealing with family members who are in the religion.
I wish oh how I wish I wished that life were a bowl of pitted cherries....but I don't.
Not now, not anymore.
Heated debate can be good. Is it nice to call people names? No, I guess not. I know myself enough to know that sometimes I get pissed off and I might say something rude, because I'm not perfect. No one is. And that's why we can't expect a perfect forum. Can we try? Yes.
But for the most part, I have to say I think people here do a pretty good job of trying to be nice.
Yep, sometimes we break forum rules and hope we will not get caught.Ya know we call someone a name, or we swear out of line, or we start slinging mud...
But ya know....crap, I'm glad I didn't walk away just because I got my feathers ruffled and a little miffed....I'm glad I stuck it out. I'm glad people told me to look beyond the words and look at the meaning. I'm glad that I have waded through heated debates with friends even when I thought the friendship couldn't withstand it and I'm glad that sometimes people say something the wrong way, because at least they said something and it got it out in the open and it turned into a discussion that might not have taken place otherwise.
No it doesn't feel good, no I haven't always felt this way, and no I would not choose to have someone just hurl an insult at me...
But sometimes we just can't be perfect...
Ok that's enough glad for the night...I'm making myself sick...
anyhow...you get my point.....

OK. One last thing. If he is performing unlicensed body piercing, that needs to stop. Someone could get seriously hurt.
Now I'm done. That's the one thing I'm concerned about...

I'm for the considering it a non event and moving forward...I think he shouldn't feel afraid to come here and just talk about it...
I mean he's always been just a cool guy. I'd be very curious to hear his side of the story (although I thought he posted one?) and hear what he has to say in rebuttal...

Well that explains everything!
JG, you said this earlier:
Yeah, war is hell and it is reality of life here on planet Earth.
It's really easy for you to make a blase comment about something like that as long as you aren't the one who has to wake up every morning and wonder if your kids are going to survive the day.
btw
I have no clue where to even find something like that, apparently you must do alot of research on that subject. I have talked with many of our returning service men and women, and for the most part they were treated well by the Iraqi people, they were told that they were glad they were there, etc etc etc.
There is always 2 sides to the story, problem is this is halfway around the world, and I cant personally experience it myself, I have to take others words for it.http://iraqblogcount.blogspot.com/ I googled Iraqi Blogs.

we already have a talk show host that stirs up controversy and says things that make you go "HUH?"
Ann Coulter
But I hear that the US Govt is taking volunteers....
